Women Win, Men Take 2nd at Groveport Quad

The Viking Women won their side of the Groveport Quadrangular meet on Thursday, April 23rd, while the Viking Men took 2nd place. The women defeated Groveport 82-80. The men took 2nd to Groveport 128-41. The Women were paced by the performance of Lily Gaal, who won the 800 (2:40.92), 100 hurdles (17.83), 300 hurdles (51.72) and, with Harper Banks, Kylee McClure, and Skylar Vandegrift, won the 4 x 400 in 4:26.07. Paige Baker won both the 100 (12.88) and 200 (26.53), and also led the winning 4x200 with Avery Hannigan, Maria McAndrew, and Skylar Vandegrift. Other winners on the evening included Abby Henderson in the 400 (1:02.22), Lila Merritt in the High Jump (5'0"), and Lilli Fritz in the Long Jump (14'5.25"). The Viking Men received a shotput win from Robert Crouse (44'6.5"), and got a 2nd place finish from De'Vaughn Railey in the 100 (11.57) and Torin Scarpill in the 400 (56.79). The Vikings also received 2nd place finishes in the 4x100 from Evan Eaton, Andrew Mershon, Wyatt Roese, and Austin Turner (47.97); the 4 x 200 of Ryder Baldwin, Oliver Ruggles, Cohen Sanders, and Austin Turner (1:42.31); and the 4 x 400 of Caiden Blackburn, Quinn Grassel, Wyatt Roese, and Torin Scarpill (3:50.01). The Vikings return to action on Tuesday with Senior night. The meet will begin with field events at 4:30 PM.
