“Success isn’t always about ‘Greatness’, it’s about consistency. Consistent, hard work gains success. Greatness will come.”-Dwayne Johnson As the TVXC Girls completed the regular season at Thomas Worthington, the goal was simple. Continue with the continued effort that has been shown each and every week. As with climbing a ladder, it is not done all at once, but one step at a time. Over the course of several steps, height is gained, until the desired destination is reached. Several steps away from their goals, but closer than the week before, the TVXC girls again showed the passion and push they have showed all season. In a different, but fun format, the girls were split into an 11th and 12 grade squad and a 9th and 10th grade squad. In the 11th and 12th grade race, Katy Zang took an early lead and led the whole way, finishing first and running a time of 18:32 as she continues to drive toward the post season. In perhaps the most exciting moment of the day, Iris Lanas Garcia would push to the finish and break the varsity standard mark, by running 23:56 and finishing 60th. For Iris, who is a foreign exchange student, not joining the team until early August, it was a testament of hard work, dedication, and consistency as she shows up every day and just keeps working. Josephine Bowerman would follow close behind, being a mark of consistency, as she ran 24:02 (66th). Lila Merritt began to get her legs back underneath her as she ran 24:55 (78th). Rounding out the top 5 for the Vikings was Bailie Peters running 25:52 and placing 95th. Rounding out the scoring for the Vikings were Ayla Martinez (108th-26:41) and Maddy Greer (114th-26:59). The 11/12 grade Vikings squad placed 10th out of 15 teams with the solid effort across the board. An hour later, the heat rose, and the 9/10 TVXC Girls took to the historic course to make their mark. 1st year sophomore Hannah Darst would got out to a quick start and finish with a PR of 25:14, finishing 57th. Rialynn Carver continued her strong sophomore campaign with a PR of 25:17, finishing 58th. Hannah Daniels gave a strong effort and ran a smart race, moving up the whole way, running 28:31, finishing 100th. Not far behind finishing 4th for the TVXC girls was Ellie Smith, running 28:48, finsihing 103rd. Mikaela Frabott completed the scoring for the Vikings finishing coming off her runner of the week award, running 29:15, finishing 106th. Finishing up the displacement scoring for the Vikings with gritty and tough performances were Chloe Brunton (33:14-120th) and Shaeden Wymer (123rd-33:40). Overall the 9/10th girls squad placed 13th out of 14 teams. Despite the heat and the challenge from great opponents, the Vikings showed that great consistency, working each and every day can lead to great things. The goal now is that the consistency will be key to where the Vikings are look to open a door at the top of the ladder they continue to climb.
