Teays Valley fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 12-9 loss to Circleville on Monday. Circleville took the lead on a single in the first inning.
Despite the loss, Teays Valley did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Circleville had 11 hits on the way to victory.
Circleville opened up scoring in the first inning. Debord drove in one when Debord singled.
Teays Valley put up five runs in the fifth inning. The offense in the inning came from a walk by Hunter Young, a single by Tommy Williams, and a double by Landon Brent.
Circleville scored five runs in the third inning. Thatcher, Brooks, Moats, and Justice all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Vandagriff led the Circleville to victory on the mound. The fireballer allowed four hits and four runs over four innings. Bell and Cox entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Adam Trisler took the loss for Teays Valley. The hurler allowed nine hits and six runs over three innings, striking out four and walking one.
The Vikings tallied seven hits on the day. Peyton Weiler and Williams each racked up multiple hits for Teays Valley Vikings Varsity. Williams and Weiler each managed two hits to lead Teays Valley.
Circleville scattered 11 hits in the game. Justice, Holcomb, Debord, and Thatcher each collected multiple hits for Circleville. Thatcher led Circleville with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
