Teays Valley traveled to Olentangy Berlin Wednesday to open sectional tournament play in girls soccer. The Lady Vikings had a big task in front of them facing the 17th-seeded Bears but were able to hang tough throughout the first 20 minutes. Berlin would finally break the deadlock and less than two minutes later double their lead. They would find the back of the net once more making the halftime score 3-0. Teays Valley battled throughout much of the second half but the Bears would find three more goals leaving the final 6-0. “We faced a tough team tonight and give them credit as they deserved it,” said TV coach Jason Herbert. “It’s always tough no matter how the season ends but we’re proud of what we continue to build as a program and very proud of the imprint our four seniors Jozie, Makayla, Jordan and Addie have left on our program.”
The four seniors were part of one of the most successful seasons in the program’s last twelve years as sophomores. They are also the first class in program history to earn the United Soccer Coaches Association’s national team academic award all four years of high school.
